After a bit of research and checking out the different models at local stores we ordered him the DLX from Amazon. He has taken to this thing "like a duck to water" and rides the thing every day. The engineering of this board is really quite interesting. It is well made and seems as if it will last a long time. My only recommendation is this...if you buy one and enjoy riding it, go ahead and stock up on some extra wheels. As I mentioned he has been riding this thing like mad...mostly on concrete and asphalt. After about 6 weeks the rear wheel is completly gone! The front wheel is worn a bit, but not nearly as bad. The wheels and bearings for the DLX are uique, and are not everywhere on the internet, but I did find them at the Razor web site. Overall, we think it is a great product!

My eleven year old daughter asked me to get her this. I'm a 40 year old father and after a few hours, I'm hooked! The following week I bought myself a Ripstik-G (which I believe is similar to the original) and that's how I got to compare them. And oh, never try anything for the first time without ample protection. Wrist pads in particular. You'll find out why when you fall. And believe me, you don't want to. -The Ripstik Air is a tad shorter than the Risptik G. If you have a wide stance, go for G. -Air is also lighter than G, which makes it great for people who can do jumps which I can't... yet. G stands for "grind" which I don't do... yet. And yes it's heavier than Air which makes it more stable in my opinion. -Air has that sandpaper feel on the deck which gives a real good grip for almost any type of shoes and makes it safer especially for kids. I tried riding the G wearing cowboy boots and let me tell you, it's not a good idea. No, I didn't fall but it made me slow and fashionably horrible. -Air has "spring-loaded" wheels; they snap back to the center. This, in my opinion, lessens the effort of carving. A little tug or snap translates into a few feet! It's less frustrating for beginners. The drawback though is the loss of control. Since you have a tendency to go real fast real quick, turns are quite scary to do! The G is all about control. I scatter little obstacles like books, chairs, water bottles and the like in our living room and I'd be "snaking" around them real slow. It's like surfing in a pond! I can stay on deck for thirty minutes and it's beautiful! So that's what I think. If you go for speed, get Air; for control, get the G (or the original). Either way you'll have an experience like you never had before. Enjoy!

Sandman (Newtown, pa USA) “Great Board- You won't put it down” I'm an adult and I wanted to get a caster board after seeing one of the neighborhood kids riding one. He let me try it out and it was alot of fun and great exercise. I went to our local sporting goods store and originally bought the Wave board because it was on sale and the guy at the store told me it was made better than the ripstik. Took it home and it was ok but not as smooth or as easy to use as the neighbor's ripstik. After 2 weeks of use, the Wave board became increasingly difficult to use- the joints on the wheels did not feel like they were turning as fluidly, particularly uphill. Took the Wave board back to the store where they graciously returned it and bought the ripstik G. I don't intend to grind but I read some reviews that the G is smoother and more durable than the original ripstik. In addition, I have 2 boys who are now using my board constantly (I have since ordered a second one) and might like to do some tricks, plus the price was fine. The G is AMAZING. Significantly faster and smoother than the Wave. Going uphill is much easier. Carving is no problem at all. My 6 year old took to the G in no time. Our young neighbor has the Ripster (the smaller ripstik made for younger kids). I can see how that would be a good product for little kids just starting out but I will tell you that my son had no trouble picking up the full size G with some practice and he now rides like a pro. He is not into tricks yet but I can see it is coming. One word of caution is that the G is fast on hills. You really have to carve (go side to side) or you will fall and get hurt. In conclusion, this is a great product that I highly recommend. Do not waste your time (as I did) on other brands.

When I first saw a college student riding one of these, I asked him about it. He said "try it!" I almost did, but I didn't, for fear I would fall and die. I mean, only two wheels? And I didn't have my helmet with me. I finally broke down and bought one after seeing some cool videos on the internet. After putting on my helmet, and my knee and elbow pads and my wrist guards, I took it out into the parking lot today. The first ride is very scary, like riding a buttered block of ice, and lasts only about 1 second. After about five rides I'm up to five seconds and smiling my butt off. For the next half hour I can't stop smiling, even when I fall off (once). After this time, I'm able to make left turns, and I can even go uphill by doing a sort of manic twist to gain momentum. My longest ride is about 30 seconds. If you consider yourself coordinated, well-balanced, and reasonably athletic, I recommend this product to you, regardless of your age. It works perfectly, and presents a new athletic challenge that is well worth mastering. The independent steering of the front and back wheels adds a whole new dimension to the fun. The challenge of staying on the board will get you sweating without even realizing you are exercising. When I first saw a college student riding one of these, I asked him about it. He said "try it!" I almost did, but I didn't, for fear I would fall and die. I mean, only two wheels? And I didn't have my helmet with me. I finally broke down and bought one after seeing some cool videos on the internet. After putting on my helmet, and my knee and elbow pads and my wrist guards, I took it out into the parking lot today. The first ride is very scary, like riding a buttered block of ice, and lasts only about 1 second. After about five rides I'm up to five seconds and smiling my butt off. For the next half hour I can't stop smiling, even when I fall off (once). After this time, I'm able to make left turns, and I can even go uphill by doing a sort of manic twist to gain momentum. My longest ride is about 30 seconds. If you consider yourself coordinated, well-balanced, and reasonably athletic, I recommend this product to you, regardless of your age. It works perfectly, and presents a new athletic challenge that is well worth mastering. The independent steering of the front and back wheels adds a whole new dimension to the fun. The challenge of staying on the board will get you sweating without even realizing you are exercising.
